Can you reuse press-on nails?
Where press-on nails beat the salon manicure is reusability. With proper care, they can be reused more than once! There are two ways to apply press-on nails. With nail glue that can last up to 2 weeks or longer and with adhesive tabs which were made for short wear up to 5 days. That being said, not all press-on nails are created equal which means not all of them are actually reusable.
How to find reusable press-on nails?
Whilst you might be tempted to get your next set from the dollar store, a better way to do it is to shop from a business specialising in press-on nails. There are few things you want to consider before getting your next set.
Most important factor when wanting to reuse the nails is the durability and the quality of the nail tips. You want to choose a brand which makes sturdier, harder press-on nails. These nails will keep their shape longer without chipping.
Second, the nail color should be the color of the tip itself, and not printed on top. The nail tips where the color is printed on the top will get scratched easier with daily wear and tear. In case of nail art or even simple baby boomer nails - make sure the brand you are shopping from uses extra UV layer on top to protect the designs from scratching easily.
Third, good quaity press-on nails usually come with a full prep kit including cuticle stick, nail file, alcohol pad, adhesive tabs, and nail glue. So make sure you check what comes in a box besides the nails.
Is it hard to reuse press-on nails?
Reusing press-on nails is actually pretty easy once you get into routine. It's always easier to reuse if you applied your nails with adhesive tabs - then you simply pop-them-off once you wish to change the styles and peel off the glue from the back of the falsies. Please be always careful to properly disinfect the nails with rubbing alcohol before reusing the set to avoid any infections.
How to remove press-on nails to reuse them?
As mentioned above when you apply press-on nails with adhesive tabs, you simply peel and disinfect with rubbing alcohol. When it comes to glue, patience will take you long way.
Once you carefully removed the nails by soaking there will be glue residue left on the edges and back of the press-on nails.
For the edges of the nail tip always use the nail file (you can reuse the one that comes in the kit) and gently buff off the glue without buffing too hard to remove only the glue and preserve the shape of the tip.
